Help Wanted!
The Monterey Bay Rabbits Organization is working directly with the AFRP Rabbit Rescue Group. The AFRP RRG is always in need of volunteers and donations. If you would like to help, or have your own ideas, please contact us and we will respond as soon as possible.

Please Help Save Me
Monterey Bay Rabbits is dedicated to saving the lives of rabbits, but also is always open to helping other loving animals in need. This is Mamma Kitty (Miss Kitty). She is three years old and is Feline Leukemia Positive.

Her story began March 26th. She was a foster cat for a local rescue organization and was visiting the vet for a routine check up and to recieve her vaccinations. Sadly, this is where the veterinarian discovered Miss Kitty has Feline Leukemia (FeLV+).
Feline Leukemia is a disease that affects the cats immune system. Though known to live for many years after their diagnosis, almost all of the time cats are put down the very same day they are diagnosed. These cats also must be only cats or with cats that have been vaccinated against feline leukemia.
Like most other FeLV+ cats, she was then scheduled to be euthanized at 4:30pm that day. The foster family could not let such a love bug be put down because of this, so they rescued her for a second time. The rescue group informed them that they are no longer interested in sponsoring her and that she will need to become their personal project.

This only made things more difficult, but luckily there are great people out there willing to help. She currently is in a great foster home but needs to find her forever home. She is playful, talkative, and very loving.

There is NO adoption fee and she comes with a very large bag of her favorite cat food, toys, yarn, food bowls, and a litter box. Already spayed. If you'd like, we can even plan for any potential adopter to meet her (or 1 week foster) right away!

She really is an amazing cat. I know how hard it will be for her to compete with all the free kittens & regular cats out on Craigslist, but she truly is one of the sweetest cats you could ever meet. She is not from an irresponsible owner, but from a legitimate rescue group and volunteer who are in desperate need.

Volunteer Opportunities

Foster Families: By fostering a rabbit, you help in more ways than one. Once you become a foster parent, the AFRP will supply you with all of the food and supplies needed for the rabbit's stay at your home.

1. You will be socializing the rabbit making the rabbit more adoptable. 2. You help open up a space for another rabbit to be rescued. & 3. You are able to help educate your family about the responsibilities & joy of rabbits.

Transportation: The AFRP Rabbit Rescue Group needs volunteers willing to transport rabbits to and from vet appointments, foster homes, and adoption shows. This is an easy volunteer opportunity for anyone with a valid drivers license.

Donation Booth: During adoption shows, a donation table is set-up outside the location in order to attract people inside and recieve donations. This booth often features one friendly bunny available for adoption, information packets, and a donation jar. No prior knowledge of organization is necessary. Any questions that cannot be answered by our info packets can be redirected to an adoption counselor.

Advertisement: Advertising is essential to rabbit adoptions. If potential adopters do not know about our events, how will they be able to adopt one of our rabbits? Advertising for the AFRP Rabbit Rescue Group includes posting or handing out fliers along a designated route or in your own community. If you have another way of advertising, please contact us.

Printing: Our group is always printing newsletters, information packets, adoption folders, fliers, and more. This is a huge expense for us. By printing for us, we will send you the document and you can print as many copies as you would like.

Cleaning: After the adoption shows, there is a lot of laundry and cleaning to do. Volunteers are needed to take home the dirty blankets, litter boxes, and food bowls used after the shows.

Host a Show (Education or Adoption): By offering to host a show, we will come to your business or party to either, educate your family and friends about the wonderful world of bunnies or show adoptable rabbits much like our larger adoption shows.

At an Education show, only a few rabbits are brought in and our mascot 'Bailey' will attend. We then discuss how fun and friendly rabbits can be, including a slide show, short movies, and a 'petting zoo'.

At an Adoption Show, we bring up to ten adoptable rabbits and do a general education speech and more one-on-one education.

Please contact us for more information.

Donations

Money (Checks): If you would like to donate money to our organization, please write a check to the AFRP with 'Rabbit Rescue Group' written on the top or bottom. All checks can be dropped off at a Adoption Show, listed on the Events Page, or sent to the AFRP Main Location.

Money (Cash): If you would like to make a cash donation to our group, please drop off the donation at one of our upcoming Adoption Shows, listed on the Events Page.

Material Donations: The AFRP Rabbit Rescue Group are always in need of certain items for the rabbits. If you wish to donate any of these items, feel free to drop them off at an upcoming Adoption Show or contact us for a pick-up/drop-off appointment.
